Privacy policy

Consumer Buddy for Business is drafting software that helps companies' legal teams track consumer complaints and legal notices and prepare their replies. This policy explains what data the service handles, where it is kept and who can see it.
Your role and ours
For the cases you work on — notices, complaints, facts and drafts, which may contain consumers' personal data — your organisation decides why and how that data is used and is the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We process it only to provide the service, on your instructions. For your users' account details we act as the Data Fiduciary.
What we process
- Account data — work email address and name, used for one-time-code login and invitations.
- Organisation data — company profile, Word templates, defence library and past replies you upload.
- Case data — documents you upload, facts collected from your teams, drafts, comments and the audit trail.
- Usage data — pseudonymous product events (for example "draft generated") carrying no names, emails or case text.
Where your data is stored
All case and organisation data is stored on servers in India (AWS Mumbai region), in a database and storage bucket separate from the Consumer Buddy consumer product. Each organisation's data is isolated at the database level, so one customer can never read another's.
Service providers
- Anthropic — AI models that extract case details and draft text. Content is sent for processing only and is not used to train their models.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, storage and email delivery (India region).
- Mixpanel — product analytics, where enabled; receives pseudonymous events only.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside your organisation is role-based, with a full audit trail. Our staff access customer data only to provide support you request or to meet a legal obligation.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your subscription is active. When it ends, we return or delete it as set out in your agreement with us, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your rights and grievances
Users can ask to access, correct or delete their account data. Requests about case data are handled through the customer organisation that controls it. Grievance Officer: Aman Agarwal, contact@consumerbuddy.in. We acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within one month.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above.
